Project Go!  Weekly Project Go! activities connect children with nature in their own neighborhoods and communities. In our watershed the program is led by Winona State University students who introduce children to fishing, snowshoeing, bird watching, hiking, gardening, biking, camping, campfire cooking, kite making, basic survival, sheltering building, fossils, nature art and games.

Winona State University Outdoor Education & Recreation Center  This community service offers trips, clinics, trainings and equipment rentals. Its purpose is to promote development of lifetime outdoor skills, safe technique, appreciation of the natural environment and fun!

Great Dakota Gathering  This annual community event is a reminder of the life-respecting, water respecting culture that was based in our area at the time of European settlement. The event is held at Unity Park on the south shore of Lake Winona each September and is open to all.

Citizen Stream Monitoring Program  Volunteer stream monitors are a critical component of Minnesota’s Water Quality Strategy. The program provides valuable data to researchers who monitor our streams. It also offers meaningful ways to get outdoors, observe and interact. The program combines the knowledge and commitment of citizens with the technical resources of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.

The Prairie Enthusiasts  This group of volunteers builds awareness and helps landowners and public land agencies protect and restore prairie and oak savannah landscapes.  The Minnesota Driftless chapter serves Winona, Houston, Fillmore, Wabasha, Olmstead, and Goodhue counties.
